Key tips for properly storing disc granulator fertilizer pellets

Fertilizer pellets made by disc granulators have uniform size, moderate hardness, and strong moisture absorption. If stored improperly, they can clump, lose nutrients, or grow mold. Good storage not only extends shelf life but also ensures effectiveness when used.

1.Control Humidity

Disc granulator pellets have more porous surfaces, so they easily absorb moisture. Keep storage areas dry (relative humidity ≤60%). Use sealed packaging with an inner moisture-proof PE film and outer woven bags for strength. Avoid placing bags directly on the floor—use pallets to lift them and prevent ground moisture.

2.Stack Carefully

Though moderately hard, long-term pressure can crush pellets, affecting how evenly they spread. Stack no more than 10 layers high to keep bottom bags from deforming.

3.Avoid Light and Heat

High heat and UV light speed up nitrogen loss and breakdown of some ingredients. Keep storage temperatures below 30°C and block direct sunlight.

4.Separate Different Formulas

Mixing fertilizer types (like high-nitrogen and high-potassium) may cause clumping or reduced effectiveness due to reactions. Store different formulas in separate zones, at least 1 meter apart.

5.Use FIFO System

The longer pellets are stored, the higher the risk of quality loss. Always use older stock first ("First-In-First-Out"). Check pellets regularly—deal with clumps or dampness right away.

In short, fertilizer pellets from disc granulators are sensitive to storage conditions. Following these steps helps maintain pellet quality and fertilizer performance.
